SD Card Functionality
Yes. An SD card can be inserted into the ADC-V523/523X so that it can record continuously without additional hardware. The ADC-V523/523X must have a service package that supports Onboard Recording. For more information, see Onboard Recording with Smart View for video devices.
Note: The SD card recordings contain video only.
To install an SD card in an ADC-V523/523X:
1. Verify the device is upgraded to the latest Firmware available.
2. Pull open the rubber tab on the bottom side of the camera near the QR code and MAC address.
3. Insert the micro SD card into the slot until it clicks.
4. Replace the rubber cover.
To create an Onboard Recording rule
Note: This rule may automatically be created during camera installation if an SD card is detected in the camera.
To create an Onboard Recording rule using the MobileTech app:
1. Verify that the SD card is inserted into the camera.
2. Log in to the MobileTech app.
3. Select the customer account.
4. Tap Equipment.
5. Tap the desired camera.
6. Tap Configure Video Device.
7. Tap Set up SD/SVR Recording Schedules.

Configure a Video Analytics Rule
Overview
Grand Alarms Video Analytics continuously scans a property and sends a notification when a person, vehicle, or animal is identified. Advanced detection rules enhance perimeter security by sending alerts when someone is coming or going, or even loitering on the property.
With Video Analytics, enhanced notifications are sent with thumbnail images showing people, vehicles, and animals. Advanced detection rules can also be used to draw virtual tripwires across driveways and virtual fenced-in zones for a property. Email and text notifications can be sent whenever events when the following occurs:
• A vehicle pulls into the driveway/parking lot or a person walks up to an entrance
• Anyone loiters in a specific zone of a property
• A person or vehicle is identified outside a business after-hours
• A pet jumps up on the sofa or enters an off-limits flowerbed
• A child leaves the yard or someone drives off at night
Video Analytics can spot what is important, even if there is a lot going on.

Camera setup
Video Analytics operates by tracking a target’s feet or a vehicle’s wheels. Verify that the camera is clearly facing the ground or floor of the area being monitored.
Note: To ensure the greatest accuracy, keep the camera lens clear of debris, smokey environments, spiderwebs, etc.
Camera Placement
Position
Position the camera 8-16 feet above the ground.
When the camera is repositioned, recreate all of the rules and recalibrate the camera if the camera supports calibration. For more information about which cameras must be calibrated, see Calibrate a device for Video Analytics.
Angle
Angle the camera downward 30-60 degrees and keep the horizon line level.
This angle provides an ideal field of view while avoiding clouds and trees. Video Analytics is designed to work with an angled-down perspective; not horizontal, and not top-down.
Video Analytics scans the frames where the bottom of the screen is the ground and the top of the screen is the area above the ground (e.g., ceiling, sky). Video Analytics performs best when the camera’s sideways tilt is no more than approximately 10 degrees.
• Left image: The camera is angled properly.
• Right image: The camera is tilted sideways too much and accuracy may be reduced.
Distance
Targets should be closer than 25 feet from the camera (15 feet at night).
The entire target should be visible inside the camera’s field of view.
Camera location
Video Analytics detects objects and classifies them as people, animals, and vehicles. Position the camera with a view that can see important activity from people, animals, and/or vehicles.
Recommended
• Overlooking a driveway/parking lot
• Overlooking a front porch or wherever packages are dropped off
• An area of interest around a yard or lot
• Indoor entryways, exit ways, or hallways of interest
Not Recommended
• Areas with constant or uninteresting motion (e.g., roads with regular vehicle movement, trees constantly swaying in the wind, etc.)
• Pointing cameras out a window because screen reflections interfere with Video Analytics performance
Lighting
Be aware of any bright lights (i.e., motion-triggered floodlights) near the camera that may attract insects or affect exposure and IR settings. Mount the camera in such a way that a vehicle’s headlights do not shine directly into the camera.
Avoid reflective surfaces (i.e. overhangs/eaves, walls, etc) that will reflect IR lights at night and make it diffcult to see objects further away as reflective surfaces become overexposed.
Create a rule with Video Analytics
Video Analytics rules can be configured using the Customer website or app. The MobileTech app can also access these configuration settings, but the user must first send a communication test from the customer’s panel.
Users can create up to three Video Analytics rules on the same camera. Additionally, ground zones and tripwires can overlap.
Add the Video Analytics rule
A Video Analytics rule can be created using the Customer website, Customer app, and MobileTech app.
To create a rule with Video Analytics using the Customer website:
1. Log in to the Customer website.
2. Click Video.
3. Click Recording Rules.
4. Click Add New Rule.
5. Click to select Video Analytics
To create a rule with Video Analytics using the Customer app:
1. Log in to the Customer app.
2. Tap Video.

Factory Reset

Resetting a video device to its factory defaults removes all programming and memory from the device.
Important: Wait at least 2 minutes for the video device to power on fully before performing the following procedure. The factory reset might fail if the device is still powering on.
Reset Procedure
1. Press and hold the reset button until the LED is flashing green and red (about 15 seconds), then release the button.
2. The camera will reboot with factory default settings.

Important: Once a video device has been reset, it is normal for the LED to turn off momentarily. It is best to leave the video device plugged into power and undisturbed for two minutes after performing the factory reset.

What model is the Indoor Wi-Fi Camera?
The Indoor Wi-Fi Camera is the ADC-V523 / ADC-V523X. It is a 1080p indoor camera with HDR, two-way audio, Wi-Fi, Ethernet setup support, IR night vision, Video Analytics compatibility, and Onboard Recording support on compatible firmware and service plans.
What video quality does the Indoor Wi-Fi Camera support?
The camera supports 1920 x 1080p HD video using H.264 recording compression. It also supports HDR, which helps improve image quality in rooms with mixed lighting, bright windows, or changing daylight.
Does the Indoor Wi-Fi Camera work on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
Yes. The Indoor Wi-Fi Camera supports 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. It can also be connected using Ethernet during setup or for a wired network connection.
Does this camera support Ethernet?
Yes. The Indoor Wi-Fi Camera has a 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 Ethernet port. Ethernet can be used as a setup method or network connection. It is not the same as Power over Ethernet, so the camera still needs the included power adapter.
Does the Indoor Wi-Fi Camera support PoE?
No. The ADC-V523 / ADC-V523X uses a 12V DC, 1A power adapter. It may connect by Ethernet, but it does not use Ethernet for power. Classic wiring trap. Looks close enough to be tempting, wrong enough to waste your afternoon.
How do I connect the camera to Wi-Fi?
The camera can be connected using AP mode, WPS mode, or Ethernet mode. AP mode is usually the most reliable wireless setup method. WPS can work if the router supports it and WPS is enabled. Some internet providers disable WPS on their routers.
What does AP mode mean?
AP mode means the camera creates its own temporary Wi-Fi network during setup. You connect your phone, tablet, or computer to the camera’s temporary network, then follow the setup steps to connect the camera to the home Wi-Fi network. The camera LED flashes white when it is in Wi-Fi Access Point mode.
What does WPS mode mean?
WPS mode allows the camera to pair with a compatible router without manually entering the Wi-Fi password. To start WPS mode, hold the reset/WPS button until the LED flashes blue, then activate WPS on the router. The LED should turn solid green when the camera is connected.

What should I do if the camera will not connect to Wi-Fi?
First, power cycle the camera by unplugging it and plugging it back in. If it still will not connect, move it closer to the router, confirm the Wi-Fi password, try AP mode instead of WPS, or use Ethernet for setup. If the issue continues, a factory reset may be needed before adding the camera again.
How do I factory reset the Indoor Wi-Fi Camera?
Wait at least 2 minutes after powering on the camera before attempting a reset. Then press and hold the reset button on the underside of the camera until the LED flashes green and red, which takes about 15 seconds. Release the button and leave the camera powered for about two minutes while it reboots. Resetting removes the camera’s programming and it must be added back to the account.
Does the camera have night vision?
Yes. The Indoor Wi-Fi Camera supports IR night vision up to approximately 15 feet / 4.6 metres. It is designed for low-light indoor monitoring, but placement still matters. A camera pointed at reflective surfaces, glass, or bright lights can produce poor night images.
Does the Indoor Wi-Fi Camera support two-way audio?
Yes. The camera supports two-way audio, allowing users to listen and speak through the camera from the app when the feature is enabled and supported by the service package.
Can the Indoor Wi-Fi Camera record to a microSD card?
Yes. The ADC-V523 / ADC-V523X has a microSD card slot and can support Onboard Recording when the account has a compatible service package. The SD card recordings contain video only. The microSD card is inserted under the rubber cover near the QR code and MAC address.
How much video can the microSD card store?
Storage depends on the card size, recording quality, audio setting, and how much motion the camera sees. As a rough guide, a 128GB card can store about 30 days on low quality, 15 days on medium, 7 days on high, or 5 days on max quality. Actual recording time can vary, so treat those numbers as estimates, not promises carved into stone.
Does the camera support Video Analytics?
Yes. The ADC-V523 / ADC-V523X is compatible with Video Analytics when the customer has a service package that supports it. Video Analytics can help detect people, animals, and vehicles and can be used with rule types such as Ground Zone and Tripwire.
Why are my Video Analytics alerts inaccurate?
Video Analytics works best when the camera can clearly see the floor or ground where a person’s feet, an animal’s body, or a vehicle’s wheels move. For best results, keep the lens clean, avoid reflections, avoid pointing through windows, and make sure the camera is not aimed at areas with constant irrelevant motion.
Can I create more than one Video Analytics rule?
Yes. Users can create up to three Video Analytics rules on the same compatible camera. This is useful when different areas need separate monitoring rules, such as a hallway entry point and a separate room zone.
What is the best placement for Video Analytics?
For Video Analytics, the camera should be positioned so it clearly captures the floor or ground area being monitored. The guide recommends placing compatible cameras 8 to 16 feet above the ground, keeping targets within about 25 feet, or about 15 feet at night, and angling the camera downward around 30 to 60 degrees where applicable. For an indoor tabletop camera, the practical version is simple: give it a clean view of the floor area where movement happens.
What should I do if the camera was already connected to another account?
If the camera was previously installed on another account, it may need to be deleted from that account before it can be added again. A factory reset alone may not be enough if the camera is still assigned elsewhere. Annoying, yes. Also normal.

Lighting
Be aware of any bright lights (i.e., motion-triggered floodlights) near the camera that may attract insects or affect exposure and IR settings. Mount the camera in such a way that a vehicle’s headlights do not shine directly into the camera.
Avoid reflective surfaces (i.e. overhangs/eaves, walls, etc) that will reflect IR lights at night and make it diffcult to see objects further away as reflective surfaces become overexposed.
Create a rule with Video Analytics
Video Analytics rules can be configured using the Customer website or app. The MobileTech app can also access these configuration settings, but the user must first send a communication test from the customer’s panel.
Users can create up to three Video Analytics rules on the same camera. Additionally, ground zones and tripwires can overlap.

A Video Analytics rule can be created using the Customer website, Customer app, and MobileTech app.
To create a rule with Video Analytics using the Customer website:

Resetting a video device to its factory defaults removes all programming and memory from the device.
Important: Wait at least 2 minutes for the video device to power on fully before performing the following procedure. The factory reset might fail if the device is still powering on.

Can I create more than one Video Analytics rule?
Yes. Users can create up to three Video Analytics rules on the same compatible camera. This is useful when different areas need separate monitoring rules, such as a hallway entry point and a separate room zone.

What should I do if the camera was already connected to another account?
